One of the nation’s top oculoplastic surgeons, Dr. Sami has significant skill in performing reconstructive and aesthetic surgeries on the eye region. Care of the eyes, one of the most delicate and complex organs of the human body requires not only excellence as a surgeon but also an artist’s grasp of aesthetic detail. Dr. Sami and her staff also provide unparalleled empathetic care to ensure all of our patients feel welcome and comfortable.

The following are some of the most commonly requested procedures in terms of eyelid surgery, and other surgeries of the eye region.

Cosmetic Blepharoplasty

One of the most common procedures in plastic surgery of the eye is the eyelid lift, or cosmetic blepharoplasty. This procedure involves the removal, reduction or repositioning of excess sagging eyelid skin and fatty pockets under the eyes. The goal of blepharoplasty surgery is to create a balanced, symmetrical look that is a refreshed-looking improvement on the patient’s natural appearance. Both upper and lower eyelids can be optimized with cosmetic blepharoplasty.

Several factors must be considered by the surgeon when performing this procedure. The surgeon must perform an analysis and aesthetic review of the patient’s face shape, eye shape, bone structure and eye sockets, and skin type. Dr. Sami takes all of these subtle factors into consideration when performing cosmetic blepharoplasty. After eyelid lift surgery, patients appear younger-looking and more “awake” than before.

Dr. Sami lends considerable expertise to this discipline, enabling her patients to achieve the most dramatic results possible. All procedures are done with particular care and attention to the patient’s specific desires, for a more refreshed and natural look.

Asian Eyelid Surgery

We cherish beauty that reflects the differences in people around the world, and we are honored to receive referrals from our Asian patients. Asian eyes are a distinctive and beautiful part of the Asian people. At our Houston cosmetic surgery practice, we are devoted to enhancing the look of Asian eyes. Our goal in performing Asian eyelid surgery is to create a look that is youthful and fresh looking but maintains the ethnicity of Asian beauty. Most importantly, Dr. Sami takes into consideration each patient’s individual look, improving on that look with 100% natural results. As before and after photos in her “brag book” can attest, Dr. Sami is one of the premiere oculoplastic surgeons in the country for a variety of types of Asian eyelid surgery.

Asian eyes have specific structural attributes; for example they often have an indistinct upper eyelid crease, making the eyelid appear heavier. Conditions like this require particular expertise to address correctly. Drawing on her extensive experience in treating these specific physical and aesthetic issues, Dr. Sami’s meticulous surgical care benefits our many Asian patients. Subtle differences and personal tastes are all taken into consideration to yield the best results possible. After eyelid surgery, our patients are thrilled with the look of more open, younger-looking more beautiful and symmetrical eyes that are true to their Asian heritage.

Asian eyelid surgery can be conducted in our Houston cosmetic surgery offices under local anesthesia, and typically the most significant effects of the procedure (slight pain, bruising, swelling) are greatly reduced after only two to three days. Dr. Sami and the staff at Houston oculoplastic surgery are devoted to making our patients feel comforted and supported during the entire process. We realize that any type of surgery is significant. We give empathetic care and strive for total patient satisfaction.

Droopy Eyelid Surgery

The condition of Droopy Eyelid, or Ptosis is caused by weakening of a muscle, known as the levator, in the eyelid. Some people are born with Ptosis, but most develop the condition as they age. Droopy eyelid can make a person appear sleepy, tired-looking and often times older than their years. Sometimes the amount of droopiness differs between the two eyes, giving the patient an asymmetric appearance. Droopy eyelid can also reduce the field of vision in patients.

Surgical repair can be performed to improve the condition both cosmetically and functionally. While the surgical procedure for treating droopy eyelid has existed for many years, medical advancements have improved and refined it, enabling the surgeon to achieve a much-improved result in terms of symmetry and aesthetics.

When performing surgery for droopy eyelid, Dr. Sami is exceptionally skilled in achieving the desired look and physical results for patients. Because droopy eyelid surgery addresses the delicate skin and tissue around the eyes, there are numerous outcomes, many of which are undesirable. Dr. Sami ensures patients that their aesthetic outcomes will be nothing short of amazing, both cosmetically and functionally.
